Virginia Carol “Ginny” Main, a 20-year-old Caucasian woman, was tragically murdered on August 21, 1970, in Gastonia, Gaston County, North Carolina. Born on May 13, 1950, in Watauga County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of Thomas Marvin Main and Biddie Houch Main. At the time of her death, Virginia was working as a caregiver and housekeeper in Gastonia. She was known for her kindness and trusting nature, qualities that made her beloved by those who knew her.
