Amanda Joy Neal, a 13-year-old girl, tragically lost her life on January 24, 1981, in Lawrence County, Mississippi. She had been visiting her father, Bobby Neal, for the weekend when the events leading to her death unfolded. Amanda Joy, who lived with her mother in Hattiesburg due to her parents' divorce, had planned to spend the night with her cousin, Melanie Sue Polk, at her father’s home before attending church the next morning.
