ReSean Jamar Graham Sr., a 42-year-old African American man, was fatally shot on January 24, 2025, in Youngstown, Ohio. Authorities responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 7:30 p.m. and discovered Graham inside a residence on the 2700 block of Griselda Avenue. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. His death marked the second homicide in Youngstown that year.
Following an investigation, law enforcement identified two suspects in connection with the murder. Kenneth Carter, a 34-year-old man, was arrested three days after the incident. Authorities apprehended Carter in the parking lot of Youngstown Municipal Court, where he had arrived for a hearing related to a separate drug possession charge. Terry Hopkins, a 22-year-old man, surrendered to police two days later. Both suspects were charged with complicity to commit murder.
A grand jury later indicted Carter and Hopkins on one count of murder, with an additional three-year firearm specification. Carter faced additional felony charges, including improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle and possession of cocaine. Both suspects remained incarcerated in the Mahoning County Jail, each held on a $750,000 bond. Court records indicated that Carter’s preliminary hearing was scheduled for February 5, 2025, while Hopkins’ arraignment details were not immediately available.
Authorities continued their investigation into Graham’s death, with detectives working to determine whether additional individuals were involved.
