On February 6, 2025, Allen Scott, a 50-year-old male musician from Cincinnati, Ohio, was fatally shot in a tragic incident that unfolded in broad daylight. Scott, a Northern Kentucky native and longtime Cincinnati resident, was well known in the local music scene as a member of the heavy metal band Opium Doom Cult. The shooting occurred around 11 a.m. on West McMicken Avenue, a location straddling the border of the West End and Over-the-Rhine neighborhoods.
According to reports, Scott was on his way home when he was confronted by an assailant. Witnesses described him as a kind, peaceful, and happy individual, making his sudden and violent death all the more shocking to those who knew him.
Authorities later revealed that Scott had been held at gunpoint in an attempted robbery just before the shooting. His landlord, who was present at the scene, recounted the terrifying moments leading up to the crime. The suspect, a 17-year-old male, allegedly pointed a pistol at Scott outside his apartment door, demanding money. When Scott attempted to shut the door, the suspect fired through it, striking him. The landlord, who had also been threatened by the suspect, reported that the teen fled between buildings toward Central Parkway immediately after the shooting. Despite life-saving efforts by emergency responders, Scott was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into Scott’s death led to the arrest of the 17-year-old suspect on February 17, 2025. The teen, who had no prior criminal record or disciplinary issues in school, was charged with murder and aggravated robbery. Court documents later revealed that he was also accused of committing an armed robbery against a 70-year-old individual on the same day as Scott’s killing. The suspect now faces multiple charges, including aggravated murder, felonious assault, and additional counts of aggravated robbery. His case is currently being processed through Ohio’s juvenile court system, where a judge must determine whether there is probable cause to try him as an adult.
