In a tragic turn of events stemming from a domestic dispute, Stephen Morgan, a 45-year-old man from Powell, Tennessee, was fatally shot on May 3, 2025. The incident unfolded at his residence on Weaver Hollow Way, a home he shared with his girlfriend, 20-year-old Dsani Badgett. The conflict that led to the fatal shooting reportedly began over allegations of infidelity.
According to police reports, Badgett discovered messages on Morgan's phone that she believed were evidence of an affair.
Morgan had been borrowing her phone as his own was broken. This discovery led to a heated confrontation when Morgan returned home from work. An argument escalated, during which Badgett is said to have brandished a firearm.
As tensions mounted, Morgan allegedly attempted to take the gun from Badgett, leading to a physical struggle. During the altercation, the weapon was discharged, and Morgan was struck in the chest and hand. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they found Morgan unresponsive with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the shooting, Dsani Badgett was taken into custody and has since been charged with first-degree murder. She was booked into the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility and is awaiting further legal proceedings. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is ongoing.
