On a crisp Sunday morning, November 10, 2024, the life of Jon Marshall Nichols, a 62-year-old White male from Halfway, Oregon, was tragically cut short in a hunting accident on a mountainside. Nichols, an experienced outdoorsman, was guiding an elk-hunting trip on private property along Fish Creek, about a mile and a half north of Highway 86. He was accompanied by two hunters, Leroy George Trautman, 73, of Beaverton, and Andrew Mark Krebs, 73, of Oregon City.
