Mianna Nichelle Roach, a 6-year-old girl from Polkton, North Carolina, tragically lost her life on March 24, 2025. The heartbreaking incident unfolded in Anson County, North Carolina, when Mianna was allegedly kidnapped and fatally shot by her father, Michael Roach. Authorities reported that the series of events began around 3 a.m. when Mianna’s mother contacted the Polkton Police Department, stating that Michael had broken into her room, threatened her at gunpoint, and abducted their daughter using her vehicle.
Due to the absence of a legal custody order, an Amber Alert could not be issued. Instead, law enforcement released a BOLO alert for Michael Roach and the stolen SUV. Around 8 a.m., deputies from the Anson County Sheriff’s Office spotted the vehicle and initiated a high-speed chase. The pursuit ended in Wadesboro, near Little Creek Road and Old Winfield Road, when Michael crashed the SUV into a ditch. Upon approaching the wrecked vehicle, deputies discovered Mianna, a 6-year-old girl, deceased from a gunshot wound, while her father was suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Michael Roach was airlifted to a Charlotte hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Authorities have identified him as the primary suspect in the tragic kidnapping and murder case. Reports indicate that he entered the mother’s home armed, abducted Mianna, and later fatally shot her before turning the gun on himself.
Mianna’s mother has since launched an online fundraiser to help cover funeral expenses. A touching photo shared on the fundraiser shows Mianna, a 6-year-old girl, smiling brightly at her recent birthday party, with her father visible in the background. “I am trying to raise money to bury my beautiful 6-year-old baby girl, who left this world too early by the hands of the father she loved her whole little life,” Mianna’s mother wrote.
