In the early evening of February 2, 2025, a burst of violence shattered the quiet of a District Heights, Maryland neighborhood, leaving 20-year-old Tyler Fludd fatally wounded. Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 5400 block of Silver Hill Road around 5:20 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Fludd outside, suffering from gunshot wounds. First responders rushed him to a local hospital, but his life could not be saved, and he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The
investigation into the shooting quickly revealed a story of betrayal and a robbery gone tragically wrong. Authorities determined that the male victim, Tyler Fludd, knew one of his assailants, 18-year-old Jamiel Collins of Oxon Hill. Investigators believe that Collins used this familiarity to orchestrate a robbery, enlisting the help of 24-year-old Keyondre Joyner of Washington, D.C. During the course of this planned robbery, Joyner allegedly shot Fludd. The specific details of what transpired during the robbery that led to the fatal shooting have not been fully released to the public.
Within weeks of the incident, the Prince George's County Police Department announced the arrests of both Jamiel Collins and Keyondre Joyner. The two men were charged with first-degree murder and other related charges for their alleged roles in the death of Tyler Fludd. Following their arrests, they were both held in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status, awaiting legal proceedings.
As the case moved through the justice system, it came to light that Jamiel Collins pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and armed robbery in November 2025. His sentencing is scheduled for April 17, 2026. Meanwhile, Keyondre Joyner, the alleged shooter, is preparing to face a jury trial for his role in the death of Tyler Fludd.
