In the early hours of February 5, 2025, the life of 37-year-old Edna Renee Lyles was tragically cut short in her Fort Washington home. A native of Accokeek, Maryland, she was known affectionately as 'Nae' to her friends and family. Police responded to a report of a shooting at her residence on Livingston Road shortly after midnight and found her suffering from gunshot wounds.
Despite the efforts of first responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation swiftly pointed to a domestic dispute. Authorities identified her boyfriend, 31-year-old David Wilson Jr. of Accokeek, as the suspected shooter. It is believed that an argument between the couple escalated, culminating in the fatal shooting. Responding patrol officers located and arrested Wilson not far from the scene of the crime.
Wilson has since been charged with first and second-degree murder in connection with Edna Lyles's death. He is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections and is being held without bond pending further legal proceedings.
Edna Lyles, born on March 25, 1987, was a devoted home health aide, remembered for her generous heart and vibrant spirit. Her untimely death has left her family and community in mourning.
