On the evening of January 27, 2025, Marisol Chavez Figueroa, a 30-year-old Hispanic woman from Santa Rosa, California, was fatally shot in the city's Roseland neighborhood. At approximately 6:50 p.m., police responded to a 911 call reporting an injured woman on the sidewalk of Whitewood Drive, just north of Hearn Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found Marisol Chavez Figueroa unresponsive with at least one gunshot wound to her torso. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators quickly identified a suspect associated with a white Toyota Tacoma truck. The vehicle was located parked on East Robles Avenue, and detectives discovered that the suspect and an accomplice were staying at a motel in the 3100 block of Santa Rosa Avenue. On January 28, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m., police served a search warrant at the motel room and arrested two individuals: Domingo Miguel Lopez, 38, and Floriberto Sanchez, 42, both residents of Santa Rosa. A firearm was recovered from the motel room.
Domingo Miguel Lopez was arrested on suspicion of murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Floriberto Sanchez was arrested on suspicion of being an accessory after the fact and for driving under the influence. Both suspects were booked into Sonoma County Jail and held without bail. Marisol Chavez Figueroa leaves behind two daughters, aged 12 and 4. Her sister, Yoannah Rodriguez, organized a fundraiser to support Marisol's children and cover funeral expenses. In the fundraiser description, Yoannah stated that Marisol was murdered by a man she knew and urged others in abusive relationships to seek help.
