In the quiet community of Berryton, Kansas, a tragic event unfolded on January 26, 2025, leading to the death of 76-year-old Ruth D. Noble. Authorities were called to a disturbance at a residence in the 7800 block of Southeast Ratner Road. Upon their arrival, deputies discovered a grim scene inside the home. Ruth, her husband, 79-year-old Thomas R. Noble, and their 41-year-old daughter, Kristin M.
Noble, were all found deceased from gunshot wounds.
The preliminary investigation by the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office suggests a double murder and suicide. It appeared to investigators that Thomas R. Noble had a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound. The deaths of Ruth and her daughter were attributed to gunshot wounds as well. Law enforcement officials have stated that all the individuals were immediate family members. While the investigation remains open, authorities have indicated that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
In a sad and disturbing turn of events, the Noble family home was burglarized just days after the tragic incident. On February 1, 2025, a 911 call reported a potential burglary at the now-empty residence. A trailer filled with items was seen leaving the property, and though the trailer and stolen items were later recovered, the home had been ransacked, and three vehicles were missing. The vehicles were later found in different locations. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the burglary or the deaths.
