Carlos Alberto Gonzalez, a 57-year-old man, was fatally shot in Miami, Florida, on January 25, 2025. The incident occurred in the Westchester neighborhood of Southwest Miami-Dade and stemmed from a dispute between Gonzalez and his landlord, 37-year-old Adam Louis Anson. According to reports, the confrontation revolved around a thermostat adjustment in the efficiency apartment Gonzalez was renting.
Anson, armed with a semi-automatic pistol, allegedly forced his way into the apartment and began physically assaulting Gonzalez. After dragging him outside to the backyard, Anson reportedly shot Gonzalez multiple times in the head.
Following the shooting, Anson returned to the apartment, adjusted the thermostat, and then called emergency responders. He claimed that Gonzalez had attempted to hit him, prompting him to act in self-defense. However, authorities arrested Anson shortly after the incident, charging him with second-degree murder and burglary with assault or armed battery. Gonzalez was transported to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries.
