Remilio Meyers, aged 31, was shot and killed in a midday incident on September 21, 2011, in North Oakland. The shooting occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. on the 800 block of 52nd Street, near the intersection with Martin Luther King Jr. Way and just two blocks from Children’s Hospital. Meyers was one of three men injured in the shooting; while Meyers succumbed to his injuries, another victim was left in critical condition, and a third man sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
