Jason Davis, 44, male, White, was shot on the night of June 18, 2017, in South Omaha, near 19th and Washington Streets, and died the following morning at Nebraska Medical Center. Police and fire crews responded around 9:27 p.m., finding two people wounded; Davis was transported with CPR in progress and later succumbed to his injuries. The second victim, 30-year-old Justin Huskey, was hospitalized in critical condition.
The case was reclassified as a homicide after Davis s death on June 19, 2017.
Investigators said the shooting occurred at or near a neighbor s house in the South Omaha neighborhood. Community remembrances described Davis as someone loved by friends and family, and local listings marking his death note the June 19 date for his passing following the late-evening gunfire the night before.
Detectives released an initial suspect description: two Hispanic males in their late teens or early 20s seen in connection with the attack. Despite canvassing and follow-up, there have been no public reports of arrests, and the homicide has remained without a named suspect in custody.
