Sarafia Monnetta Parker, a 29-year-old African American woman, was found dead on October 14, 1989, in Temple, Texas. Her body was discovered in a field, showing signs of severe trauma. Reports indicate that she had been beaten and strangled before being left in the tall grass.
Parker was last seen alive in the cab of a pickup truck driven by Kenneth McDuff, a notorious serial killer who had been previously convicted of multiple murders.
McDuff, who had a history of violent crimes, was suspected in Parker’s death but was never formally charged. Investigators strongly believed he was responsible, given his pattern of targeting vulnerable women and his presence in the area at the time of her murder.
McDuff had been paroled earlier in 1989 despite his previous convictions, a decision that later drew significant criticism. Following Parker’s death, McDuff continued his killing spree, leading to his eventual arrest and conviction for other murders. He was sentenced to death and executed in 1998.
