Audrey Nelson Everett, a 35-year-old woman, was murdered on August 14, 1989, in Los Angeles, California. Her body was discovered in a trash bin behind East Seventh Street. She was one of the victims of Samuel Little, a serial killer who was later convicted of multiple murders. Little, who was described as a remorseless and vicious serial killer, was found guilty of the first-degree murders of Audrey Nelson, Carol Alford, and Guadalupe Apodaca.
His method of killing involved luring vulnerable women with the promise of drugs before beating and manually strangling them.
A DNA match in April 2012 identified Little as the suspect in Nelson's murder, along with the murders of Alford and Apodaca. This led to a grand jury indictment in April 2013. In 2014, Little was convicted and sentenced to three consecutive life prison terms without the possibility of parole. Prosecutors argued that he derived sexual gratification from strangling and murdering his victims. Nelson’s sister, Sherri, expressed the horror of her sister’s final moments, stating that the images of the coroner’s presentation would be etched in her mind forever.
Little was later linked to numerous other murders across the United States, making him one of the most prolific serial killers in American history. Authorities confirmed his involvement in at least 60 murders, with Little himself claiming to have killed as many as 93 women. His crimes spanned several decades, and he was finally apprehended in 2012 after being found living in a shelter in Kentucky.
