Vida Hicks, a 43-year-old Black woman, was one of four victims in a series of brutal murders committed by Francisco del Junco in Miami, Florida, between August 1995 and March 1996. Del Junco, a Cuban-American serial killer, targeted crack cocaine-addicted Black women, luring them with promises of free drugs and sex before beating them to death with metal pipes and setting their upper torsos on fire. Hicks, along with Diane Nelms Cheryl Ray and Janice Cox fell victim to his violent spree.
