Devin Galley, a 12-year-old boy, was tragically killed on August 27, 2001. His death was part of a larger crime committed by Terry Lee Hankins, who murdered multiple family members. Hankins, who was later executed for his crimes, had gunned down his estranged wife, Tammy, along with her two children, Devin Galley and Ashley Mason, who was 11 years old.
Following the murders, Hankins surrendered to authorities after a five-hour standoff at his girlfriend's apartment.
During his confession, he admitted to also killing his father and half-sister nearly a year earlier. His father's body had been left in a recliner for ten months, surrounded by air fresheners, while his half-sister's remains were found stuffed into a plastic ice chest.
Hankins was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to death. His execution took place on June 2, 2009, in Texas, a state known for its frequent use of the death penalty. Before his execution, Hankins expressed remorse for his actions, stating, “I am sorry for what I've done and for all the pain and suffering my actions caused”.
