The investigation into Maria Bruno's murder revealed that her killer had entered through the kitchen window. The perpetrator was later identified as Michael Gargiulo, a neighbor and air conditioner repairman who had a history of stalking and attacking women. Gargiulo, known as the 'Hollywood Ripper,' was linked to multiple murders and attempted murders, including the 2001 killing of Ashley Ellerin and the 2008 attack on Michelle Murphy, who survived and provided crucial evidence against him.
