Lathan Thornton, an 82-year-old man from Gainesville, Florida, passed away on February 8, 1988, in Melrose, Florida. Thornton had spent most of his life in the Gainesville area and was known for his contributions as the co-founder of Alachua Furniture Company and Imperial House. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was an active member of various organizations, including the R.T. Schafer Lodge 350 F&AM in Gainesville and the Morocco Temple Shrine.
