On September 24, 2018, Jorge Martinez, a 63-year-old Hispanic male, was brutally attacked in Santa Monica, California. Martinez was struck in the head with what appeared to be bolt cutters. He was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries on September 30, 2018 .
The assailant, Ramon Alberto Escobar, a 50-year-old man, was identified and apprehended shortly after the attack. Escobar had a history of violent crimes and had been deported six times prior to the incident. H
