Carlo Barlassina, a 44-year-old ordained Barnabite and head preacher of the Our Lady of Fatima Shrine in Niagara Falls, New York, was murdered on June 29, 1971, in a hotel in Chicago. At the time of his death, Barlassina was traveling toward San Diego, California, on an assignment to the Our Lady of the Rosary Church and had stopped in Chicago.
