Shirley Ann Carpenter Trapp, a 45-year-old African-American woman, was reported missing on August 26, 2004, in Peoria, Illinois. Her disappearance was uncharacteristic, and foul play was suspected from the outset. Two days later, her body was discovered, and it was determined that she had been murdered.
