In the waning days of November 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the late afternoon calm in a north St. Louis neighborhood, leaving a young man clinging to life. Twenty-two-year-old Antwon Mullen, a male, was discovered by officers around 3:37 p.m. on November 28th, suffering from a gunshot wound to his head in the 5900 block of Mimika Avenue. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, unable to provide investigators with any information about what had transpired.
The
initial scene of the shooting was later pinpointed by authorities to a BP gas station located at 6001 W. Florissant Avenue, roughly a quarter-mile from where Mullen was found. For two days, he fought for his life, but the severity of his injury proved insurmountable. Antwon Mullen succumbed to his wound and passed away, turning another instance of city violence into a homicide investigation.
