In a secluded lovers' lane near Memphis, Tennessee, the life of 20-year-old Ruth McElwaine Tucker from Bowling Green, Kentucky, came to a violent and tragic end on January 27, 1923. She was in the company of 19-year-old salesman Duncan Waller when they were ambushed by a notorious criminal named Charles Barr. Armed with a. 25 caliber pistol, Barr shot and killed Waller instantly.
