Jayaben Patel, a 9-year-old girl of Indian ethnicity, tragically died on October 25, 1983, in Gilmer, Texas. Her death was part of a horrific incident that also claimed the lives of her mother, Bhikhi Patel, her sister, Shila Patel, and her brother, Jayesh Patel. The family was found in their living quarters at the Upshur House Hotel, which was owned and operated by their father, Gandabhai Patel.
