Senior Corporal Thomas Dale Bond, aged 45, was a dedicated officer with the Dallas Police Department. On December 13, 1994, while serving a burglary warrant at a home in the 2700 block of Canary Drive, he was tragically shot and killed. Bond and his partner were attempting to apprehend a suspect who was hiding inside a closet in his mother's house. When Bond opened the closet door, the suspect shot him in the face, killing him instantly. The suspect then critically wounded Bond's partner, who managed to crawl out of the house and call for backup.
The suspect was arrested and later sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Bond and the attempted murder of his partner.
