On May 23, 2009, 15-year-old Brion Kimble was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting in St. Louis, Missouri. The incident took place while Brion was sitting in a vehicle in the 4100 block of St. Louis Avenue. Shots were fired from a passing vehicle, and Brion was struck and fatally wounded. The circumstances of the shooting pointed to the ongoing violence that plagued the area, as St. Louis experienced high rates of gun-related homicides during that time.
