Sergeant Kenneth Gary Vann Sr., aged 48, was a dedicated officer with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office in Texas. On the night of May 28, 2011, he was responding to a non-emergency call when he was ambushed at a red light on Rigsby Avenue. A vehicle pulled up alongside his patrol car, and the occupant opened fire without warning. Sergeant Vann was struck by multiple shots and succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital.
