On the evening of September 30, 2010, Darren Thomas, a 36-year-old aspiring chemist and father, drove his 2004 Mercury Marquis and parked at Windsor Park, located at 1501 Angelica in St. Louis. Shortly after exiting his vehicle around 6:13 p.m., he was involved in an altercation with unknown individuals. During the course of the argument, gunshots rang out, and Darren Thomas was struck by multiple bullets.
When police officers arrived at the scene in the Fairground neighborhood, they found Thomas suffering from severe gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased at the location. The investigation into his death revealed that the shooting stemmed from the dispute he had with the unidentified suspects immediately after parking his car.
In the years following the shooting, the case has remained unsolved, and no arrests have been made. The suspects involved in the altercation and subsequent homicide have not been publicly identified.
