On September 30, 2010, 36-year-old Darren Thomas was shot and killed in Windsor Park, located in the Fairground neighborhood of north St. Louis. The incident occurred around 6:13 p.m. after Thomas parked and exited his 2004 Mercury Marquis. He reportedly got into an altercation with unknown suspects in the park, which escalated quickly, resulting in Thomas being shot multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
