Tonia Linscomb, a 39-year-old white female from Colmesneil, Texas, tragically passed away on March 14, 2016. She was fatally shot by her husband, Andrew "AJ" Linscomb, in what was determined to be a murder-suicide attempt. On the day of the incident, AJ Linscomb called 911 to report that he had shot his wife and himself. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found Tonia Linscomb deceased and AJ Linscomb with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the face. The couple's grandchild was found unharmed at the residence.
Following the incident, AJ Linscomb was airlifted to a Beaumont hospital and later transferred to a Houston hospital for treatment. He was arrested on May 6, 2016, while still in the hospital and charged with murder. In July 2018, AJ Linscomb pled guilty to the murder of Tonia Linscomb as part of a plea deal and was sentenced to 48 years in prison. He will remain in the Tyler County Jail until he is transferred to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
The case was investigated by the Tyler County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Rangers, who collected numerous evidence items, including a 9mm handgun, from the scene. The tragic event shook the small community of Colmesneil, leaving family, friends, and neighbors to mourn the loss of Tonia Linscomb.
