Estuar Roelio Quinonez, a 16-year-old Guatemalan male, tragically lost his life on June 13, 2016, in Missouri City, Texas. Quinonez was a witness to several gang-related murders and had agreed to testify against members of the MS-13 gang. On the day of his death, he was lured to Buffalo Run Park by several MS-13 members, where he was shot more than 15 times while sitting on a bench.
The investigation into Quinonez's murder revealed that he had witnessed the killing of Noe Mendez, a rival
gang member. Quinonez's cooperation with the police and his willingness to testify against gang members made him a target for MS-13. The authorities identified multiple suspects involved in the murder, including Darwin Josue Lopez-Ramos, who was sentenced to 40 years in prison for his role in the killing. Other gang members, such as Jose Guerra Sibrian and Douglas Alexander Herrera-Hernandez, were also convicted and received lengthy prison sentences.
