Christopher Juel Barriere, better known as Mr. 3-2, was a 44-year-old American rapper and a member of the influential Screwed Up Click and other hip-hop groups such as Convicts, Blac Monks, and Southside Playaz. On November 10, 2016, Mr. 3-2 was fatally shot in the head at a gas station in Southwest Houston, Texas. The incident occurred after a heated argument that escalated, leading to the shooting.
The suspect in the case, Vincent Depaul Stredic, was a 40-year-old acquaintance of Mr.
3-2. Stredic retrieved a shotgun from the trunk of his vehicle and shot Mr. 3-2 in the side of the head. After the shooting, Stredic fled the scene but returned twice more to threaten another individual and shoot a second person. He was later apprehended by the police and charged with murder.
In February 2018, Stredic was convicted of murdering Mr. 3-2 and sentenced to 30 years in prison. The Harris County District Attorney's Office announced the verdict, providing some measure of closure to Mr. 3-2's family, friends, and fans. The trial concluded in the 177th State District Court, and Assistant District Attorney Dave Brucker expressed hope that the jury's verdict would bring some peace to those who loved Mr. 3-2.
Mr. 3-2's death was a significant loss to the Houston hip-hop community, and his collaborators and friends, including Snoop Dogg, memorialized him on social media. His legacy continues through his music and the impact he had on the rap scene.
