Chris Nicolasora, a 38-year-old Filipino man, tragically died on January 13, 2017, in Vidor, Texas. He was shot by his landlord, James Adrian McClelland, 68, during a dispute at McClelland's residence. Nicolasora had gone to check on McClelland, who he thought was drunk. During the confrontation, McClelland displayed a handgun and fired a shot that struck Nicolasora, causing him to collapse in the front yard.

Nicolasora was declared dead on the scene by medics. McClelland was arrested and charged with murder. He was later released on a $100,000 bond.
In August 2022, McClelland was found guilty of manslaughter in Orange County's 163rd District Court. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison by Judge Rex Peveto in October 2022. The court determined that McClelland's actions led to Nicolasora's death, and he was held accountable for the tragic incident.
Nicolasora's girlfriend, Deanna White, recounted the moments before his death, describing how he ran to her after being shot and pleaded for help. She expressed her grief and anger over the loss of her boyfriend, who had recently been getting back on his feet after a difficult period of homelessness following a diabetic coma.
The case drew significant attention in the local community, and a memorial service was held to honor Nicolasora's memory. The incident highlighted the importance of conflict resolution and the devastating consequences of violence.
