Tina Cappa, a 52-year-old woman of Hispanic ethnicity, tragically died on March 9, 2019, in New Caney, Texas. She worked as a bookkeeper at 59 Marine, a boat shop in New Caney, and was also the roommate of the shop's owner, Jimmy Don Lane. On the evening of her death, Lane and Cappa had an argument, and Lane, who had been drinking heavily, called 911 claiming he had shot an intruder. However, when police arrived, they found that Lane had actually shot Cappa in the face with a 12-gauge shotgun.
