On July 6, 2014, Abdulrauf Kadir, a 32-year-old Ethiopian refugee, was killed during a robbery at a convenience store in the Dutchtown neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri. Kadir had come to the United States less than a year before his death, escaping persecution in his home country.
