Owena McHenry, a 78-year-old African American grandmother, was tragically shot to death in her southeast Houston home on January 1, 2020. The incident occurred in the early hours of the New Year, when a gunman fired multiple shots into her bedroom. McHenry was found by her daughter and grandson around 10:30 p.m. that evening, with a gunshot wound to the head.
