Michael Jermaine Odum, a 29-year-old African American man from Longview, Texas, tragically lost his life on June 20, 2020, in Gilmer, TX. The incident occurred around 12:15 a.m. when the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting call at a residence in the 2500 block of US Highway 154 east of Gilmer. Upon arrival, deputies found Odum lying in the driveway with a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, he was pronounced dead shortly after.
