In the early hours of a Sunday morning in August 2015, the life of 23-year-old Dorain Kawane Valentine was tragically cut short in North St. Louis. His body was discovered behind a residence on the 2500 block of Semple Avenue around 9:30 a.m. on August 2nd. The young man, a male, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
The St. Louis police were called to the scene and immediately began a homicide investigation. At the time, his death marked one of the city's numerous homicides that year.
Years later, the pain of his unsolved murder resurfaced in the news when his own family was struck by another tragedy. In 2023, his 15-year-old granddaughter was killed, and a news report covering her death mentioned that Dorain had been 'shot six times and left to die in an alley in North City.'
