In the early morning hours of Monday, August 24, 2015, the life of 16-year-old DeMontae Young, a Black male, was tragically cut short in the Patch neighborhood of south St. Louis. The quiet of the 7600 block of South Broadway was shattered by the sound of gunfire. When police arrived, they found Young suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency services responded to the scene, but the teenager's injuries were too severe. He had been shot in the chest, torso, back, leg, and buttocks.
