John Calloway, a 31-year-old man from Hallettsville, Texas, was tragically shot and killed early Sunday morning, July 18, 2021, at a party in rural Lavaca County. The party, which had been posted on social media, attracted a large crowd and was held at the 2100 block of County Road 157A southeast of Hallettsville near the community of Vienna. Calloway was found dead from a gunshot wound, and the incident was quickly investigated by the Lavaca County Sheriff’s Office.
