In the early morning hours of December 7, 2015, Kansas City police officers were dispatched to the 4300 block of East 25th Street following reports of a medical emergency with unknown circumstances. Upon arriving at the scene approximately around 3:00 a.m., first responders discovered a vehicle parked at the location. Inside, they found 35-year-old Laurence A. McCauley, a Black male, seated in the driver's side seat and slumped over toward the passenger side.
