On July 31, 2012, Gelacio Ramirez, age 22, was brutally killed in Long Beach, California. The case involved four men—Jose Duenas, Christopher Arevalo Ramirez, Rafael Antonio Portales, and Rafael Bravo—who were all found guilty and later sentenced to 16 years to life in state prison for their roles in the murder. The events leading to Ramirez’s death began with a violent altercation in Riverside County before he was kidnapped and ultimately killed in Long Beach.
