Cade Caviness, a 19-year-old male from Longview, Texas, tragically lost his life on January 30, 2022, in Pittsburg, Texas. He was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the 600 block of Jefferson Street around 2:30 a.m., and was pronounced dead at the scene. Another victim, 18-year-old Patrick Hawk from Diana, was treated and released at the scene after being shot once.
The Pittsburg Police Department responded to the incident and launched an investigation. Two suspects, 17-year-old Daniel Villazana from West Tawakoni and 19-year-old Jonathan Phillips from Longview, were arrested and charged with murder in connection to the shooting. Investigators have not determined a motive and believe that the suspects and victims did not know each other prior to the incident.
