On March 20, 2022, Francisco Nesmith, a 33-year-old man from Alice, Texas, was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head at a home on Schley Street. The Alice Police Department was called to the scene around 2 p.m. that Sunday afternoon. According to police reports, Nesmith was in the area borrowing a car when he was shot.
The investigation led to the arrest of two suspects. Thirty-three-year-old Mark Anthony Gonzalez was arrested later that evening when he returned to the crime scene.
