Marissa Dikeman, a 19-year-old woman from Crosby, Texas, tragically lost her life on December 29, 2022. She was a student at Houston Christian University, studying educational administration, and was known for her hard work and dedication. On the night of her death, she was helping two 17-year-old coworkers take down Christmas decorations at her home.
The incident occurred when one of the teenagers, Cayman Wilson, allegedly found a shotgun and, in an attempt to play a joke, pointed it at the door and called Dikeman in. When she approached, Wilson fired the gun, striking her. Paramedics were called to the scene but pronounced her dead upon arrival.
Cayman Wilson was charged with manslaughter in connection with Dikeman's death. Investigators believe the shotgun belonged to one of Dikeman's roommates, who were not present at the time of the shooting. Wilson was booked in the Harris County Jail, and his bond was set at $50,000. The other 17-year-old present at the scene was not charged.
Dikeman's family and friends remember her as a loving and hardworking individual who had a bright future ahead of her. Her grandfather expressed that Wilson should not be charged, as he believes Wilson has to live with the consequences of his actions for the rest of his life. The case is still under investigation, and Wilson is set to appear in court for his next hearing.
