Estelle Stanfill Akeman, aged 58, was tragically murdered on November 10, 1973, in Ridgetop, Tennessee. She and her husband, David 'Stringbean' Akeman, were found slain in their home by their neighbor, fellow Opry performer Louis Marshall 'Grandpa' Jones. The couple was known for their humble lifestyle and were beloved members of the country music community.
