According to police, an altercation occurred between Bolden and another man, 23-year-old Davontay Vastine, who also resided on De Giverville Avenue. The argument escalated, leading to the fatal shooting of Bolden. His family and friends remember him as a hero who was passionate about music and always willing to help others. They described him as someone who deeply respected women and loved his family immensely.
Following the incident, Davontay Vastine was arrested and has since been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with Rolando Bolden's death. Loved ones gathered for a candlelight vigil to honor Bolden's memory, sharing stories of his character and lamenting the senseless violence that took his life. His aunt recalled the last time she saw him, just days before he was killed, when he gave her three hugs instead of his usual one.
