In a tragic turn of events, 29-year-old Jessica Jones of Paris, Tennessee, lost her life in a violent incident that ended in a murder-suicide. The events unfolded late one Tuesday night in May 2018, shattering the peace of a quiet neighborhood.
That evening, Paris Police officers were in the Depot Street area investigating an unrelated matter when they were startled by the sound of several gunshots coming from a nearby home. As they approached the residence at 1026 Depot Street, they encountered 40-year-old Demarrio Borum in the backyard, armed with a weapon. In a tense confrontation, Borum threatened to take his own life before retreating back inside the house.
Law enforcement officials attempted to establish communication with Borum, but their efforts to de-escalate the situation were unsuccessful. After several failed attempts to make contact, officers heard another gunshot from within the home. Upon entering the residence, they made a grim discovery. Both Demarrio Borum and Jessica Jones were found deceased inside.
The investigation into the tragic incident concluded that Borum had shot and killed Ms. Jones before turning the gun on himself. It appeared that Borum was initially attempting to flee the residence when he was confronted by the officers, at which point he went back inside the house, where the murder-suicide took place.
