In the late evening of September 4, 2019, the tranquility of a Pigeon Forge, Tennessee cabin on Conner Drive was shattered by the sound of gunshots. Alarmed, a witness promptly alerted authorities, who arrived at the scene to a grim discovery. In the driveway of the cabin lay the body of 64-year-old Randall Hawkins, who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
The male victim was a resident of Knoxville.
Upon entering the cabin, investigators found a second individual, a woman identified as Debbie Hunter, also deceased. Evidence at the scene indicated that Hunter had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The preliminary findings of the investigation suggested a murder-suicide, with authorities believing that Hunter shot and killed Hawkins before taking her own life.
Based on the initial investigation, law enforcement officials stated that they were not seeking any other suspects in connection with the deaths. The case, therefore, did not lead to any arrests or criminal proceedings against any other individuals. The bodies of both Hawkins and Hunter were sent for autopsies to confirm the causes of death.
